About Us
Welcome to Professor Medicare. Below you will find descriptions of our team, but first, we want to be clear about our approach. Our goal is to find the best Medicare coverage for each client. That may sound simple, but there are many twists and turns in Medicare. We know what they are. As brokers, we carry all the major plans: Medicare Advantage, Medigap, and Part D in Colorado. We also serve 18 other states.
We have a Medicare Resource Center in Boulder at 1660 30th Street.
There are not too many scenarios or circumstances we haven't seen. So rest assured you are in good hands. We look forward to serving you and securing the coverage that suits your needs.
Craig Stout

Craig founded Professor Medicare in 2011 after a varied career as a professional actor, in Denver and LA, entrepreneur and founder of Sumitra Gift and Jewelry, a corporate trainer, business and personal coach and manager of a professional theater in San Diego County. It’s been a fun ride.
Since starting Professor Medicare, he has been thrilled and challenged as the Medicare brokerage grew. In 2014, Donna joined him and added her professionalism and client focused care to the business. Now, having served thousands and helped with their Medicare planning, he is enjoying watching his son Aidan and other young agents, like Jarrod, come on board to ensure that Professor Medicare, as always, will be there for every client.
Donna Ludington

Co-founder Donna Ludington brings a great wealth of experience to Professor Medicare. Born in Bangkok, Thailand, she has travelled the world and enjoys bringing her multi-cultural experience to Medicare. Growing up as the daughter of physicians, she has been involved in healthcare and human services most of her life. She managed a center for abandoned and abused children in Los Angeles.
She and Craig met when they both worked at the Pritikin Longevity Center in Santa Monica. In the early 1990's the couple began Sumitra Gift and Jewelry. They distributed gift, jewelry and clothing items from around the world via two showrooms at the Denver Merchandise Mart. In 2011 they started Professor Medicare and have enjoyed working with thousands of seniors since then. Donna is a great listener and she makes her clients the #1 focus as she finds each one the best plan for their needs.
Aidan Stout

Aidan is a life and health insurance broker on the Professor Medicare team. He graduated cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2018. As a scholar/athlete, he played soccer for OWU’s historic program and received his BA in Business Administration.
Having interned with Craig and Donna while studying at Ohio Wesleyan, Aidan is excited to bring value and service to families in the Boulder community and beyond. When off the clock, his hobbies include hiking, running, and he loves playing competitive soccer when he isn’t exploring beautiful national parks across the U.S.
Jarrod Ferstl

Jarrod's educational years were spent in the classroom earning a degree in Business Administration: Marketing while also leading an on campus organization and earning the Most Valuable Teammate award two years in a row on his college Soccer team.
While looking for a career to flourish in, he wanted to take his people skills to Insurance as he believed he could provide value in cost-saving and benefits so that his clients could spend their time and money on the important things in their lives.
Jarrod is focused on doing what is best for his clients, and with that, finds a passion for helping anyone and everyone who can benefit from his expertise. He is an excellent communicator and will provide you with the care that you deserve.
Janet Jacobs

Janet, a graduate of Colorado College, was first introduced to the field of Medicare by Professor Medicare in 2012 and has since then been helping educate people about their choices with Medicare Insurance. Janet understands what a daunting task it can be sorting out Medicare options and gets special pleasure helping people find the plan that best suits their needs. Previously Janet had varied careers teaching middle school math, doing multiple types of body work and teaching yoga. She also enjoys participating in her family’s business in South Dakota.
Janet’s free time is spent with her children and grandchildren all in the area. She can also be found hiking around the foothills of Boulder.
